One day as Jesus and the disciples were walking, they saw a blind man. Upon seeing him the disciples, rooted in their laws and traditions, wondered whose sin had caused it. Jesus, rooted in the love of His Father, saw a man in need, accepted the opportunity and glorified the Father.
A Need
Jesus saw the blind man. The disciples saw blindness and wondered whose sin caused it. Jesus had been sent by the father and had a work to do. This work Jesus had to do was more than food to Him. He knew His time was short. While on the earth, He declared He was the light of the world. Now was the time to act. In front of Him, a blind man awaited the touch of God.
Took His Opportunity
Jesus spit on the ground. Taking the clay he formed from the saliva, he anointed the man’s eyes then told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. The man did so and received his sight.
Glorified the Father
This healing caused a stir. People had trouble believing he was the same man. They asked questions. The man explained what happened. Now they wanted to know who and where the Healer was. Jesus did the work of His father and brought glory to Him.
We too must do the works of the Father.
Father help us to hear your voice when we witness a need, to do the work you ask of each of us so the Father is glorified.
Jesus, rooted in the love of His Father, saw a man in need, accepted the opportunity and glorified the Father.
